A new I'm A Celebrity… theme park is opening in the UK, hopefully in time for this summer.

I’m A CelebrityJungle Challenge will launch at Lowry Outlet Mall in Salford, Greater Manchester.

An opening date has yet to be confirmed based on Covid-19 restrictions, but the team hopes that it will be ready in time for the summer holidays.

“The Jungle Challenge team are working hard to get the attraction ready for a 2021 opening, however, as you can imagine we too are having to accommodate the challenges presented by Covid-19,” reads the website.

The attraction aims to mimic challenges from the television series, with zipwires, climbing walls, mazes and parachute drops included in each 90-minute session.

Recreations of the Main Camp, Croc Creek and Snake Rock will also help turn the show into a reality for participants.

No live animals will feature, but the team has tried to make the experience as realistic as possible.

William van Rest, ITV’s director of games, live and merchandising, said: “We’re trying to create a jungle as closely as we can.

“Some of the games within I’m A Celebrity are things like treetop challenges, and one of the team who helps create the games for I’m A Celebrity is helping us with this.”

The aim will be for participants to collect as many stars as possible from the challenges – with the chance to be crowned king or queen of the jungle at the end.

It’s the latest attraction to take inspiration from a television programme.

The Crystal Maze Live Experience, based on the popular 1990s gameshow (which had a reboot in the 2010s), launched in London and Manchester in 2016.

Allowing visitors to enjoy an immersive experience in which they are contestants – even getting to grab golden tickets inside the giant crystal dome in the finale – the attraction is planning to reopen from 20 May.
