The protracted takeover of Cardiff City by the West Midlands-based businessman, Jim Cadman, and his consortium has been delayed yet again. Rick Wright, who stills holds a controlling interest in the Second Division club and retains a seat on the board, has extended his deadline until 16 January.

The Grimsby chairman, Peter Furneaux, has resigned after seven years at Blundell Park. Following the recent appointment of Brian Laws as manager, Furneaux said it was a good time to step down.
