Alen Halilovic, the teenager linked with moves to north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, is set to stay in Croatia.

The 17-year-old, regarded by some as the best player in the Croatian domestic league thanks to his performances for Dinamo Zagreb, nevertheless reportedly has concerns about making his country's World Cup squad.

Halilovic has three caps for Croatia, but could still switch allegiance to Bosnia and Herzegovina as they all came in friendlies.

Dinamo executive director Zdravko Mamic has called on Croatian Football Federation president Davor Suker to resign if Halilovic is not part of Niko Kavac's squad for the World Cup.

Mamic told Jutarnji List: "If Alen Halilovic does not go to the World Cup, the whole of the Croatian football leadership, headed by President Suker, should resign."

He believes that Halilovic can be Croatia's most important player for the next 15 years and unsurprisingly thinks the player would be best remaining at his club.

He said: "We do not want to sell Halilovic.

"He's 17-years-old. Imagine if he stayed another four years with us."

Who might Tottenham sign this January?
