Everton winger Richarlison has been called up to the Brazilian squad for the first time after a strong start to the Premier League with Everton.

Richarlison scored against Wolves and Southampton but was sent off against Bournemouth for appearing to headbutt Adam Smith.

Everton’s £40m club record signing initially missed out on Tite’s squad when it was first announced on 17 August, but an injury to Fluminense forward Pedro has potentially paved way for him to make his Brazil debut.

Richarlison made ten appearances for Brazil’s under-20 side but has never before been considered for the senior team.

Gabriel Jesus was initially omitted for Pedro as Tite looks to explore alternative players after Brazil’s quarter-final defeat to Belgium in the World Cup.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was left out for personal reasons and the more youthful Alex Sandro is preferred to Marcelo, who will be 34 years old at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Brazil are playing friendlies against the United States in New York and El Salvador in Maryland in the upcoming international break.
