Record lottery draw: Two winning tickets to share £66m prize, says Camelot

Camelot have revealed there are two winners of Saturday's record breaking £66 million Lottery draw. The winning numbers were 58, 47, 27, 46, 52, 26. The bonus was: 48

The lucky ticket holders will share a prize of £33 million each following a fourteenth rollover on Wednesday, making them the joint biggest winners in National Lottery history.

New rules meant the huge amount of money had to be won or shared out after Saturday evening's draw. If no single ticket had turned up the full six numbers, it would have rolled down to the next closest ticket - one matching five main numbers and the bonus ball.

The last National Lottery record jackpot was in 1996, with £42million, and was shared out between three winners.

There was a last minute rush of “exceptional demand” on tickets according to National Lottery. Camelot expected to have sold 400 every second in the hours before 7.30 on Saturday evening, when sales stopped.

In the hours leading up to the draw, National Lottery tweeted that “Our website is running slower than normal due to unprecedented demand. Please try again shortly.”

Millions of tickets are thought to have been sold.

A spokesman for Camelot said: "This is certainly an unprecedented level of sales - one of the highest selling draws we have ever had.

"The National Lottery website has continued to process ticket sales, but we are sorry for anyone who has experienced problems this evening.

"There have been great levels of excitement leading up to tonight's draw, which is great as the higher the sales, the more we can give to charitable causes."

Noel Edmonds, who presided over the first ever draw in November 1994, pushed the button.

In anticipation of the evening's events, he said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be taking part in tonight's Lotto's record breaking draw.

"I was honoured to be asked to host the first National Lottery draw and I'm proud to be pushing the button tonight on such a historic occasion.

"The life-changing jackpot has to be won so I'd like to wish every National Lottery player the best of luck."
