A 10-year-old boy has been killed after a piece of furniture fell on him in a Topshop store, police have confirmed.

The incident occurred in the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading, Berkshire, and paramedics and police rushed to the scene shortly after being called around 4pm.

The child, who has not been named, suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital an hour after the incident.

Unconfirmed reports suggest he had pulled a barrier down and it crashed down upon him.
