Police launch inquiry, but no arrests yet made

A girl, 15, and a 36-year-old woman have been shot in a “targeted” attack in Birmingham, police say.

The pair were taken to hospital after emergency services were called to the scene in Frodesley Road, Sheldon, at around 9.40pm on Thursday.

Though their injuries were minor, police said they were still being treated for their wounds on Friday.

Officers sealed off the residential road and spoke to potential eyewitnesses. No arrests have yet been made.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "Two people have been taken to hospital with gunshot wounds after reports of a firearm discharge in Sheldon, Birmingham last night.

"A woman aged 36 and a teenager aged 15 are in hospital with minor injuries.

"Enquiries are on-going to understand the circumstances of the incident, however at this stage the incident is believed to have been targeted.”
