Prince Harry says ‘life has changed dramatically’ in new video about Invictus Games

Prince Harry has shared an update on the 2020 Invictus Games and discussed how “life has changed dramatically for all of us” in a new video.

On Saturday, the Duke of Sussex shared the video on Twitter, explaining that this would have been the first week of the Invictus Games in The Hague in the Netherlands, had the competition for injured or wounded veterans not been postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus.

“As we commemorate V-Day this weekend, and pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of the entire Second World War generation, we should’ve also been gathering together in the Netherlands to kick start the Invictus Games 2020 in The Hague,” Prince Harry said.

“Life has changed dramatically for all of us since I was last in The Hague, but the IG2020 team has done an incredible job to adapt so quickly to the situation, and are busy planning dates for next year.”

After announcing that the new dates for the games will be shared “very soon,” Prince Harry expressed his hope that “all of those in the Invictus family are coping well and supporting each other through these challenging times.”

During the video, the 35-year-old also said he has heard “amazing stories of families coming together on online platforms”, before asking people to “please look out for those who have gone quiet or are no longer visible on the chat sites”.

“You guys are the best at this, so I have no doubt you are all running around and supporting one another,” he said.

While the Invictus Games will not be happening this year, the father-of-one said that virtual activities, including a “virtual conference with international speakers and participants sharing their thoughts and experience of resilience and why the Invictus spirit is so important” will be taking place instead.

The duke, who is an ongoing patron of the foundation, concluded the video expressing his gratitude for the “continued support”.

“I am incredibly grateful for your continued support. Stay safe and this week, stay tuned, as we bring The Hague home to you,” he said.
