Netflix will drop the fifth and final season of Lucifer in two batches of eight episodes, star Tom Ellis has revealed.

Ellis announced the news about the highly anticipated series on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday.

The forthcoming season will be six hours longer than usual, comprising of 16 episodes in total.

Following Fox’s decision to cancel Lucifer in May 2018, there was a huge social media campaign for the show’s revival.

Netflix picked up the series in June 2018 after monumental support for the series on Twitter under the #SaveLucifer hashtag.

The devil drama stars Ellis as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar, who helps LAPD detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) combat crime.
